The Human Flower Project
Flowers play an important role in the lives of people. They are prominent in art and cultural rituals; when words are inadequate, flowers help communicate feelings. Julie Ardery has created a website that tracks human involvement with flowers: the Human Flower Project.
A sampling of current entries include advice on ordering Valentine's Day roses online, a review of a museum show on the use of floral patterns in the art of Central Asia, the loss of one of two known populations of the nearly extinct Baker's larkspur, and an interview with the man who constructed the world's largest flower bouquet.
