Using Plant DNA to Thwart Counterfeiters
From The Christian Science Monitor: Biotechnology firms are developing methods to use plant DNA for thwarting the trade of counterfeit goods. It is claimed that the complex genetic sequences are ideal candidates for use as unique markers.
The desire for an inexpensive, uncopyable marker has government agencies and industry intrigued by the new technology, for uses such as document protection, textile marking, and packaging for pharmaceuticals.
