From December 16, 2006 to January 14, 2007, Botany Photo of the Day is going to be featuring photo abstracts posted with little or no scientific commentary. If abstracts aren't to your taste, please consider revisiting the site in mid-January. – Daniel
In infrared. Previously featured on BPotD here: Trachycarpus fortunei.

Beautiful photo, Daniel. As an aside, I enjoyed reading the commentary associated with your previous photo of this plant May 5, 2005 - when BPotD was new. When you return from vacation I'd be interested in a followup on how many subscribers the site now has - my guess is that it has grown by leaps and bounds! A tribute to your efforts!
Stunning! Thanks for the variety of plants and styles you post here. Always enjoyable.
fabulous image!
Exquisite!!
yes -- fabulous photo! You must be having fun with your camera -- and Photoshop, Daniel! Play on!
Thanks all...
Maureen, there's actually not _too_ much Photoshop applied to this one that is different from any of the others. I believe the only additional alteration is swapping the blue and red channels (kind of a standard way to process the red-toned infrared images in order to produce a blue-toned sky).
