The common name is feathergrass. Native to southern South America (Patagonia).

I love abstract botanicals, Daniel -- thank you for being open minded enough to feature some of these beautiful images. For me, the essence of a particular species can also be seen in a photo like the one above, of the stipa, as well as in a photo with exquisite detail of the plant.
