Grown from seed collected by the Kew, Edinburgh, Kanchenjunga Expedition to northeastern Nepal in 1989, the cultivar name for this spurge is the same as the name of the Nepalese village from where it was nearby collected. This plant was then introduced into cultivation by Thompson & Morgan Seed Company via an agreement with RBG Kew.
