Deciduous azalea mildew
Hello
I am new to posting so not sure if I am doing this correctly....Every year my 3 deciduous azaleas which are planted on the south side of our garage in a sheltered location, develop quite sever white powdery mildew.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening? It ruins the look of the plants when they bloom.
Thanks for any assistance or ideas!

Re: Deciduous azalea mildew
They most likely need more air movement.

Re: Deciduous azalea mildew
That's a big problem in the Pacific Northwest, apparently due to nightly dew, coupled with a lack of rain to wash fungus spores off of leaves. I'm sure there's standard advice. Possibly, though, hosing the plants periodically during the dry season might help.
Powdery mildew seems rare here in Florida. Perhaps the summer rain?

Re: Deciduous azalea mildew
Thanks for your suggestion Mudonthefloor. Not sure how to achieve more air flow. Should prune them? and if so should I do it now or wait until after they have bloomed?

Re: Deciduous azalea mildew
UC advice includes air circulation and overhead watering.
