Identification: ID Help please

    May I ask if anyone knows what kind of mushroom this is?
    I'm guessing it is a Lycoperdon Nigrescens, but that is a wild guess.

    Found near Greenville, South Carolina.

    Trippy looking mushroom!

    I don't get to see many puffballs in my area, so I don't have an opinion on your ID in that sense, but are you sure it is a puffball? If you cut it in half, is it the same inside throughout, or can you see the outline of a cap&stem structure?
