Hi everyone, For the past few years I have been spending most of my time out in the woods for both my jobs and freetime(probably spend around 275-300 days a year wandering around) IDing plant and animals, hiking and taking photos (http://www.flickr.com/photos/28511931@N07/sets/ for anyone interested). I have always been interested in fungi, but just recently decided to get serious and try to ID them and hopefully eat some. All are from Carter co in the Ozarks region of MO. #1 Lycoperdon perlatum? #2 Found growing on wood, spores black #3 and #4 couldn't get a spore print #5 Underside was orange and didn't have gills, more like pores, working on spore print right now I'm sure these are all common, but I'm a newb. Thanks for any input. -Corey
A good candidate for that last one is Boletus curtisii. Was #3 / #4 growing in your yard? It looks like it is in the genus Chlorophyllum or Lepiota. For #1, I agree with your assessment. #2 - could your black spore print have been dark brown?
Thanks for the help Rob. The last one is definitely Boletus curtisii The spore print looked pretty black, some people were telling me that it is a Psathyrella of some kind. #3/4 Was growing in gravel road in an ozark oak hickory forest.
