I have 2 plum trees which are 20 years old and which are both infected with black knot, I have removed about 50% of each and neither produced fruit this year but both have many new sprouts . I plan to cut them down.

I also have 2 10 year old trees, a patterson pride and a tecumseh which I believe are japanese hybrids and neither of which bear much fruit.

Is there some way I could graft a sprout from a blacknot infected tree onto one on my japanese hybrids ? and would this enhance pollination on the japanese hybrid ?

the only thing is to research if blacknot is contagious if you graft a piece to the japanese; it could spread the infection
