Help identify small yellow wildflower

I have seen this small yellow wildflower several times on hikes in the mountain of North Carolina. Have not been able to identify.

Five petals, yellow, Oval opposite leaves, 18 inches or less in height.

Can not attach photos.

Small yellow flower....

Small yellow flower....

Yellow flowers are my problem too -- around here (Kelowna, BC, Canada) it seems that 90% of the wild flowers are yellow. It is very hard to identify these without a picture showing the flower and the leaves. A picture would be wonderful...
