white fungus on pinus flexilis

    My pine has a white fungus over its bark on the main trunk. I have attached 2 photos to show the fungus. Could someone please advise on best method to eradicate this fungus.

    Looks more like Pine Bark Adelgid Pineus strobi (an insect pest related to aphids, common on many pines) to me.
