Fast growing tree required - California

I want to plant a fast growing tree in my back yard, any suggestions?

 

For a fast tree - if you have space for it - try Sequoia sempervirens (Coast Redwood).

Some Eucalyptus are even faster, but are considered damaging invasive weeds in California.

 

Maple Negundo subsp.Negundo fast and dry resistent!!

 

Acacia's are also amazingly fast, and many could be adapted to your climate being from Australia. A. dealbata and others have great flower displays in spring.

Wish they were hardier in my area!

 

Unfortunately, at least two Acacia species are listed as invasive in California (Acacia cyclops and Acacia melanoxylon)

 

Better to go for the local native Acer negundo subsp. californica! But generally, this tree isn't a very good plant for garden use.

i have Sequoia sempervirens in my garden and Yeah they grow fasters.... I have to trim every 2 weeks but now it has grown further....
