Identification: I Don't know what kind of plant I have

Hi, about 6 years ago I bought this houseplant and don't know what it is. It has always been beautiful and full but never grew any bigger. Last fall all of the leaves fell off as I noticed new ones sprouting. The plant went practically bald and then started growing healthy new leaves. I'm not even sure if I've been taking proper care of it and could use help here too.
