Hi I have a tree peony that is about 4 ft tall. It has 2 skinny 'trunks' , each of which divides into 2 more.
The problem is that every year the flower blossoms pull the whole thing over. It's not that I mind staking it, but shouldn't the trunks be getting sturdier wider?
    Thanks Jane

Large-flowered hybrids may do this indefinitely. Stems of herbaceous peony cultivars with heavy blooms also apt to be pulled over as their flowers expand.
