growth at base of new shoot

    one of my muture cymbidium orchids has got a swolen bulb like thing at the base of it's new shoot. what is it? here is a picture, im sorry if it isn't very clear. none of my other orchids have this growth.

    I would have to guess the beginning of new roots.

    It is a shoot, known as a 'pseudobulb', rather than new roots.

    It's a new shoot. The more of these you see, the better.
