Hi. I have a Jewell orchid that has finished blooming. I am not sure where to prune the stalk with this type of orchid. Do I take it down to the base of the plant or do I prune it back to the 3rd junction?

If you are growing the Jewel Orchid (Ludisia discolor), then cutting back the terminal flower spike to the point just above the last leaf on the stem from which it emerged. Since it blooms on new growth, you may eventually find you need to remove some of the previously flowered stems to keep the plant size manageable. Jewel Orchid

I wonder though, from your description, if you are growing the Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis sp.) which is the most commonly available orchid? If so, cut the flowering stem at a point 1 cm above the last node that didn't flower. Moth Orchid
