We have a Cassia Splendida that we can't leave outside and it has gotten so big that we have to tie it up in orde to keep it from falling over. It takes up so much room we would like to cut it back some after it blooms but, before we do, I would like to know if it will hurt the tree if it is cut back. The new groth is hollow in the center but I don't know about the old wood. Does the wood fill in and make it less straw like as it gets older or does it stay hollow when the wood matures? Do they back bud easy? Anything else you can tell me about it would be great.
