    Hi:

I recently posted regarding a mealybug problem on my indoor Podocarpus. I subsequently applied Safer's Trounce, and it is clearly making a difference.

However, one of the responders to my post suggested that a contact spray such as Trounce would not be sufficient at eliminating the problem, and recommended that I apply imidacloprid as a systemic soil drench. I have looked up a number of products based on imidacloprid, but have not taken the next step of acquiring any.

My question is....should I indeed apply an imidacloprid-based product as a soil drench in treating my mealybug issue?

    Thanks

    Barrie

Here is a link to a thread in an external forum alerting to a potential problem with this product. Hopefully the experts here can jump in with their thoughts. The link hidden from unregistered users is: Imidacloprid and Honey Bees. The article includes a section pertaining to Canada.
