What is this growing

    What is this growing in my flower garden?

    It has purple flower and huge green leaves that has a spiky ball at the base.

    Is this a flower/weed/tree/shrub ?

    Might be some sp. of Datura, perhaps D. stramonium, aka jimsonweed.

    Looks like Datura to me too. My son just brought one in for us to investigate yesterday. All parts are very poisonous and halucenogenic. Keep away from kids!
