Need help in identifying this plant.

    Can someone help me identify this plant which my wife and I saw a couple of days ago.
    I have taken a couple of photos showing the flower and leaves.

    Welcome to the forum, bigmig.

    looks like a magnolia to me.

    my guess is Magnolia sieboldii

    I agree with Sea Witch. The leaves on the tree are very similar to one of my magnolias though the flowers are quite different. Very beautiful!

    Many thanks for identification of this plant. I just checked on the web for photos of the Magnola sieboldii and you are spot on with the id of this plant.

    Great to be able to get help so fast. Hope your weather on the island is better than here in Port Moody.

    I find that ID's here are usually done like lightning! Lots of really smart peeps here (not me). That was an easy one, which is why I was all over it. ;o) I love magnolias.
