Identification: Huge flat-top 'toadstool'

    This appears to be the epitome of a 'toadstool.' They could have a party up here. Found in the forest in Wiesbaden, Germany. (The slime looks like it had a snail hanging out overnight.)

    This appears to be an old specimen of Chlorophyllum rhacodes, called Shaggy Parasol in North America and Rötender Schirmpilz, Rötender Schirmling, and a few other names in Germany. However, the identification can't be definite from these pictures.

    I agree with Vitog that very likely it is Chlorophyllum rhacodes.

    I agree with Sundrop and Vitog that it looks like one of the shaggy Lepiotas such as Chlorophyllum rhacodes, and yes hard to know without more information on it, as well as knowledge of your regional mushrooms in this type. A caution worth sharing is that some Lepiotas can be dangerous to consume.
