I came across a plant in Fredericksburg, Texas, this weekend that had purple seed pods that look very much like pea pods.

The plant itself was quite tall, about 5'. The stems were purple, and the leaves were a dark green. There were no blossoms. The seed pods are a light eggplant color, and are about 1 1/2" long. (The color of the pods in the pic is not quite right -- pic was taken with my cell phone.)

Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the entire plant, and I can't remember exactly the shape of the leaves.

I'd love to know what it is, though. Thanks for any help!

If the plant was avine, it could be hyacinth bean, Dolichos lablab.
