grape vines

  1. we live in Port Alberni and a friend wants to give us a mature grape vine is it ok to transplant now??

    yes it is okay to transplant the grape vine at this time as long as we are not in a period of sub zero temperatures. Try to get as much rootball as possible, this won't be easy as the grape roots will tend to be deep, almost taproot like, just try and get as much root as you can and you should fine.
     
  3. I also would like to transpl. grapes in Octoberer

    I don't think it's too cold to transplant but...Do I have to dig up the plant or can we use clippings or "snips" as my sister calls them.
    Also, thinking these plants are too close together. We could thin them. What spacing should they be? They are trellised.
