I'm new with epi's, just to tell you...My 3 young epiphyllum oxypetalums (Night Blooming) have each put out a stem straight up into the air, with the stem tips a little bit flattened. Now I have three green "sticks" shooting up from the pot, each one no more than 1 foot long. What are these stems anyways? I mean, will these stems carry flowers or new leaves or something?

    Thanks for any help!

Okay, time has answered my question. The stems became leaves (duh). So it has the habit of growing stems straight up, then the tip will flatten into a leaf, and the stem starts to bend downwards as a regular leaf would be.
