Most species of Actinidia (kiwi) are deciduous, so it is probably normal. Do you know what type of kiwi it is?

As far as I know, all kiwi plants lose their leaves after the first good frost. This makes it easy to find and pick the fruit, which will stop ripening after it has frosted.
