Identification: Unknown fungus or mold?

    I would like to know what this is that has been growing on the window header in the rec room - can anyone tell what it is? Thanks for your help,

    The pore pattern reminds of Phellinus contiguus, which is a wet rot decaying fungus. Maybe some of the fungal experts will pipe in - unfortunately, most of my resources for fungi are restricted to mushrooms.

    Possibly Serpula?

    crazy cool, or maybe not so cool, if you have to replace the window frame and ceiling, i guess.

    Cool LOOKING though....
