When is it advised to cut the flowers off and how far back should the plant be cut? The lavender drift was planted last Summer, and is stilll flowering. I have noticed some dry, woody, and old grey clumps. Should these by removed? Appreciate advice.

  2. If your area is not very frosty you can shear the plants back in fall, otherwise clip the flower stems only, leaving the shearing back into the foliage until spring. Young plants are sheared fairly close to promote density, delay senescence. Old, leggy plants are replaced (bare stems do not sprout vigorously when cut into).
