I sowed some seeds identified as Trollius sp. last year, and to my surprise they have just started flowering. It's a tiny plant, between 4 and 5cm tall, with pure yellow flowers 2cm wide. The leaves are between 2 and 2.5cm wide and feel downy, with glabrous undersides. There's also one leaf on the flower stem.

Can anyone help me ID it?

In this case it should be called a Trolliette.

Maybe jaunty Trolliette. :) Or perhaps Trollius pumilus. Pictures on line look similar, but couldn't find a description to tell for sure. Harry

Lol Ron, that's going on the label! :-D

Thanks for the suggestion, Harry! T. pumilus was suggested on GardenWeb as well, but the leaves seem very different. This plant has dull-looking downy leaves, on the plant I grow as T. pumilus they are smooth and shiny. It might be the variety tanguticus, the shape of the leaves match the illustration in Flora of China.
