Wish to identify a pretty dried pod

    San Francisco South Bay Area, USA
    These pods have 5 smooth shiny petals (see attached photos), a bulbous center part with a thin shiny outer shell surrounding a seed (I think). These were damaged in an accident, were part of a 40-year-old piece of pod/cone art, and I'd like to find replacements if possible. I suspect they are native to California, but I'm not certain of it.
    My wife thinks they are called Sand Roses.

    Might be Merremia tuberosa, Wood Rose.
    Dried calyx and seed capsule of a pantropical morning glory.

    Other identifiable items include a Picea glauca cone (top left, first pic), and a Liquidambar styraciflua seedhead (bottom centre, first pic).
