Can anyone identify this bonsai tree?

    Hello,
    I got this bonsai tree but I don't know which kind it is. As you can see, it is not very healthy. Can anyone tell me which kind it is, so I can give it proper care?
    I was wondering whether the leaves faded because of fall or too little/too much watering.

    Older leaves look like those of Chaenomeles.

    the leaves are quite similar indeed but this one does not seem to be placed in direct sunlight, what chaenomeles usually like.
    Do you think it could be a Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia)?
