can anyone identify this fruit I found while walking but cant find what it is. very fig-like fruit but not the leaves. hollow, velvety inside and very milky fluid when picked/cut. thank you.
That's a fig. It's not quite ripe yet - wait for them to turn purple for the best flavour. There are literally hundreds of cultivars, some of which have non-typical looking leaves (as I suspect you're seeing on this tree.)
Thank you very much, this greatly helps! I suspected it was a variety unknown to me but was definitely stymied by the lack of three-pronged leaves and hollow, velvet inside. Do you happen to know the variety/name?
It's a profichi syconia from the look of it. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_mNEDj-oBMv4/Sngs4bt_iFI/AAAAAAAAAT8/I__I4r8ge1E/IMGP2408_thumb.jpg Do you know what goes on in there? http://waynesword.palomar.edu/pljune99.htm Adds extra crunch to your fig bars!
