whats this?

    can anyone identify this fruit I found while walking but cant find what it is. very fig-like fruit but not the leaves. hollow, velvety inside and very milky fluid when picked/cut.

    That's a fig. It's not quite ripe yet - wait for them to turn purple for the best flavour. There are literally hundreds of cultivars, some of which have non-typical looking leaves (as I suspect you're seeing on this tree.)

    Thank you very much, this greatly helps! I suspected it was a variety unknown to me but was definitely stymied by the lack of three-pronged leaves and hollow, velvet inside.

    Do you happen to know the variety/name?

    mmm....wasps! gotta love em! Glad i didnt decide to make some preserves w them...coulda been in for a sting!

    Again, thank you very much....now I know they are the wasp motels and not the restaurants...:)

    just sucks that i cant eat em.
