identification,please.

    My wife picked these(attached photos)from a plant growing in our garden.I have also seen a plant near my fence line with the same fruit.
    The attached photos show an outside shell that is very thin and a berry inside that is green and hard.
    If anyone can tell me what they are I would appreciate it....

    It looks like Physalis peruviana. The fruits would turn a light orange when ripe.

    These are delicious when they are ripe (fallen from plant in late, hot summer conditions). Fruit can keep within the 'paper' husk for some time. Ground Cherry it's commonly called.
