Rhododendrons: A cutting

Discussion in 'Ericaceae (rhododendrons, arbutus, etc.)' started by Credo, Sep 14, 2005.

  1. Received a cutting with much new growth from a mature rhodie. I presently have this sitting in water until I know how to plant it. Please help me to successfully plant this cutting.

Base of current season's growth only is wounded and inserted in a suitable medium, placed in humid, shaded, protected environment for rooting. Unless somebody else wants to type out the whole, detailed procedure here you will probably have to do a web search for "rhododendron propagation" or "rhododendron cuttings" to get enough information.

Credo--I can help you with rooting a rhodo cutting, but I'm not real clear on your question. Is this just a branch cut off the rhodo, or a cutting with roots that you want to plant out somewhere?
