I brought back a single unknown seed from the island of La Reunion in the Indian Ocean nine years ago. It has grown into a small, very small, anonymous-looking tree, about four feet high with a few spindly branches. I have waited all these years for it to flower so I could identify it - and at last this summer it has! Now I can only hope it gets as far as producing fruit.
Hi, I think it's tropical-ish, from S.E. Asia originally, and related to myrtle. I did read, however, that it will withstand temperatures of 28F, although I wouldn't want to take that chance. I've always brought mine into the house in the winter. It's not deciduous, but I'm surprised it produced flowers for such a small tree, as it does grow to about 30 feet in nature. Thanks for looking, from hippobroma.
