    hi,

Does anyone know if a spreadsheet or some form of database containing all taxonomic classifications and a description of what defines each of those classifications exists somewhere.

looking for something that looks like this:
group _______ description of unique trait
    Eukaryota ____ nucleated cells
    Pinales _____ reproductive cone
    etc
    etc
    etc

i'll take it in any format. Ideally, the list would also include a column for what its parent group is. A column for children groups would also help, i could use either one.

I am looking for all life but a handful of different subsets would probably work too. So if you know of one for plants or fungi I would be interested.

    thanks,
    ryan
