Oaks: the pin oak tree

    Could anyone please help me, i am wondering if the pin oak tree originated in the uk or was it brought over to England and if so where from.
    My son has a project on the Pin oak so any help would really be helpful

    The Pin Oak (Quercus palustris) is native to eastern North America. See the Pin Oak Wiki for more general info.

    Britain zone 8/9
    It is occasionally grown in Britain as an ornamental tree. The largest is 28m tall, at Hyde Park in London.

    Because it needs fairly hot summers to grow well, all the largest specimens in Britain are all in the southeast.
