I would appreciate any help on the following: I have cut my Laurel hedge in springtime. When I come back late summer about half of the hedge has shown explosive growth, while the rest stays normal. The fast growing parts seem to have some disease and the leaves are bigger and darker green, while the neighbouring part has smaller leaves and is fresh green. Any suggestions what is wrong and how I can solve this? Pls find some pictures attached. Thank you very much.

Who owns the building behind the hedge in the first picture? Did they water more or do some-thing on their side that would create a flush of growth?

Other than that, I see insect damage. Probably wasps?

Perhaps a little bit of sunburn.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about your hedges health. I don't see any-thing to be concerned about, including the weird shapes, colour and growth of some of the leaves. In my opinion, this is fairly normal.

I've had customers with the same type of Laurel hedge, that had to be trimmed every few weeks during the growing season.
