The photos you posted are much too small for identification, especially since the leaves are in a very bad condition from what seems, at first sight, the result of over-watering. Try to post better photos, that would help...
Ok thanks ill not water it as much anymore, ive just took some new pictures with a proper camera so you could help iidentify it for me plaese ? ill post a new thread
Re: Help identifying my poor Bonsai tree **UPDATE** Yes, I think it's a Chinese privet, Ligustrum sinensis. I'm not familiar with privet, but you can find some info there : http://www.bonsai-bci.com/species/ligustrum.html For more personalized info, I would suggest you join a bonsai forum such as IBC (http://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/forum.htm) or BonsaiChat (http://www.bonsaichat.net/forums.php) There are many very competent people who live in Britain on IBC, you might even find someone living close to your place for specific advice. But as I said before, I'm pretty sure the problem is over-watering, causing roots to "choke" and then rot.
Re: Help identifying my poor Bonsai tree **UPDATE** I am quite sure it is a Chinese Sweet Plum ( Sageretia Theezans ) . Do the edges of the leaves have teeth ? http://www.helpfulgardener.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16723
Re: Help identifying my poor Bonsai tree **UPDATE** Can't be Ligustrum which has opposite leaves with entire margins. This tree has alternately arranged serrated leaves.
Re: Help identifying my poor Bonsai tree **UPDATE** Thanks all , im pretty sure that it is a Chinese Sweet Plum as skunkyjoe said ! If the roots have rotted does that mean it will ever recover? Once again thanks for you cooperation :) i can now aim to resurect my Chinese Sweet Plum Bonsai :)
Re: Help identifying my poor Bonsai tree **UPDATE** skunkyjoe. I was following this thread and had never come across Sageretia theezans, so followed your link. It goes to a forum with several pics of different bonsai. So to save any confusion I have picked this one from wiki, which clearly show alternate leaves, with teeth that you mentioned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sageretia_theezans http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...1t:429,r:25,s:21&tx=84&ty=62&biw=1239&bih=528
Re: Help identifying my poor Bonsai tree **UPDATE** I had a Chinese Bird Plum bonsai , it flowered and fruited regularly . It was mostly grown inside , under lights . I remember that it required a fair bit of watering and humidity, to keep it happy . I think Owens tree may have dried out ?
