Hello! New to the forum, and I did a search first with no luck. I'm looking for the name of those columnar trees that line Grant McConachie Way to YVR airport. I've attached a couple of photos from Google Maps Streetview, but they are much larger now...

I love the compact vertical shape, and think they would work perfectly along a fence between myself and my neighbours for privacy. But of course, I want to research them to determine how fast they grow, how big they get, where to get them, etc. etc. Anyone able to identify them for me?

    TIA!

The color and gloss of the new leaves present at time of photo makes me think Lombary poplar in which case they will grow vastly larger than they are now and would not be suitable for a typical home landscape. Other fastigiate deciduous trees that have been seen on the market here are Swedish columnar aspen and Dawyck beech. Of the three the aspen will take up the least amount of space.
