    Hi all,

It's been some time since I've visited the forum but I have another wildflower that I can't seem to identify. There was a whole filed of these that I came across in the Jura Mountains at about 1000m elevation. Some of the plants were 1 to 1.5 meters tall (about 4-5 feet).

I first thought these might be part of the cynaras but I now think that is wrong. While it's not evident the stem of the plant isn't round. In cross section it would be a "+" and there are spines on each of the ridges.

    Any help would be appreciated.

A species of Carduus or Cirsium. Can you get photos showing the whole plant, the main stem, and the leaves?

Thanks for the reply. Here are a couple more pictures that may help. As requested, a picture of the whole plant and a close up of the leaf / stem.
