    Hello everyone,

I need help to identify this tree as accurately as possible.

This a limb off a tree, not a young tree trunk.

To me it looks like Box Elder. Is it?
What should I look for in order to know that this is a Box Elder?

Are there trees that can look like Box Elder, but are in fact false Box Elders? (if yes, could this be a false/pseudo Box Elder? again, how would i know?)

In the pic with a limb's bark close up -- what are those reddish/brownish specks? Are they normal, or are they indicative of a tree disease?

    Thank you!

Looks like box elder. Spots might be caused by the polyphagous shot hole borer, but might not occur in your area.
