Our linden tree has yet to produce leaves this season. Last year we had basal shoots that were about 6 feet high so I pruned them all back last fall, but so far this season it only produced a bunch more basal sprouts and a couple of sprouts on the main trunk.

The tree is about 30 feet tall, so its been here a while, it does have bud growth, but now I am getting worried.

Would my pruning have slowed it any?

    Thanks

Sounds like most of top has died but it has enough left to grow back from base. Maybe it was grafted and the scion died, but not the stock.
