We live in Ladner BC (Delta) and would like to plant a cherry tree in our sunny front yard. We are loking for cherries that are good for eating. We are considering getting a tree that has 3 or 4 different varieties grafted on the tree, if suitable. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best type of tree to get for our area? Thanks.

Lots of varieties grow and produce well in your area, the main issue (aside from the usual diseases that can afflict cherries on the coast) being birds eating the fruit. I've found that yellow-fruited varieties are generally ignored (or at the very least, minimally browsed) by birds, however, so you might want to consider something like "Rainier", which is an excellent cherry and ought to give you a fighting chance against airborne cherry bandits. "Royal Ann" is also a good one. Not entirely bird-proof though: when the red blush is pronounced (fully ripe) they will pay them more attention. Still, you can harvest a great many just prior to this.

Multi-graft trees are sometimes nice, especially in a small space, but I've found that graft failure on at least one (sometimes many) of the unions tends to result in a one or two variety tree over time.

If you want a smaller tree, consider a Compact Stella: good, sweet (dark red) fruit on a productive tree, small enough that you can throw a net over it without an extension ladder. Usually commonly available this time of year.

Yes, birds strip them if they are not enclosed. And production is often sparse to begin with. Making them a waste of time if you do not get everything right, including exclusion of birds.
