fruit tree.jpg Hi everyone, I have not long moved into my new house and there is a curious "fruit" tree growing here. i have treid to identify it but to no avail.

I only have a pic of the fruit that I have just picked in various stages of ripeness and a small twig with leaves. If i can get an ID i will get a better pic later today.

The fruit tastes a little like an apple, about the size of a large grape, quite hard with a solid pip in the centre.

The tree itself has some thorns and is upright and deciduous. It had sent out a number of suckers all over the place so it appears VERY invasive. I would like to identify it before i cut it down and remove it completely.

    Many thanks for any assistance.
