Wildflowers: Hanging Flower Colombia

    Can anyone identify this vine and flower? Not the best photo since I couldn't get close to it.

    Possibly Columnea? If not, could be Centropogon or a related genus (in the Gensneriads). My bet would be on Columnea simply because the plant seems scandent rather than upright.

    Centropogon. Appears to have fused stamens like many Lobelioids.

    It is certainly scandant and is pretty high up in the tree. I didn't know there were Centropogons like that.

    The plant habit is more variable feature than the flower or leaf structure. Most if not all Columnea have opposite leaves, whereas Centropogon species have alternative ones. Enlarged ovary compared to the outgoing narrow flower tube is quite characteristic feature of Centropogon and several related genera. I think Centropogon call would be more appealing.
