Identification: Fungi

    Please help in identifying this fungus taken from a group of identical specimens in an alder grove on Vancouver Island. About 16 cm in height, thanks for any information.

    This looks like Helvella lacunosa, but this thread belongs in the Fungi, etc. Forum, where you might get a different (better) opinion.

    Many thanks for this information which certainly appears to be correct. Being new to this site I wasn't aware that there was a separate forum for fungi but will now endeavour to find my way there.
