Looking for some ID help, I'm 99% sure... honey mushrooms? Armillaria mellia. These were growing on a dead alder, white spores dusting the moss, white stringy pith inside stem. Thanks for any help
Yes, those are honey mushrooms. Someone might jump down your throat about taxonomy, but they are honey mushrooms as far as I can tell.
Total lack of throat jumping from me :-) But <ahem> since we're on the topic, did anyone notice that by last year "they" had brought the total number of honey-group species up to nine, and I just noticed this year that there are now ten. Where will it end I ask you ... -frog
By 'They' you mean Tom Volk ... He gets the occasional boooo at mushroom events because of that (jokingly, of course).
