Blooming right now, April 20, 2014, on dry hillsides along the Fraser River just north of Williams Lake in the B.C. Interior, are these brilliant Sagebrush Buttercups, Ranunculus glaberrimus. The earliest wildflower in this area, and welcomed both by humans eager for signs of spring and the first foraging bees.

Most years these are in bloom by the last week in March, with the last flowers fading away in early May.
