I have just recently planted a hedge of 6' Emerald Cedar trees. I had previously planted a Blue Spruce close to the where the hedge is, on my property line. The Blue Spruce is 5' tall. When I left a space for the tree a neighbour came over an said you can't leave that space, put a cedar there in the hole you left. In my mind I was leaving room for the Blue Spruce, I love that tree and did not want to harm it. After major discussions about the hedge, I put the cedar tree in the space. Will that cause any harm to the Blue Spruce, the cedar tree is planted 2 ft. behind the Blue Spruce and that is measured from the outside rim of the tree not the centre of the trunk. Also I have read on this forum that you can trim the tops of the trees in order for them to fill out in the bottom, is this correct, so the height can be kept around 6'?

    Thank you for your response
