    Hello,

I am looking for a suitable vine to cover a trellis that is attached to a cinderblock chimney, about 26 feet in height. The area gets some sun, some shade, as the house is surrounded by 80 foot cedars. We will be planting in a large container, 5 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. I'd like something that fills in the trellis and grows quickly to cover, but won't damage the cinderblock. Flowers would be lovely, but not required. I was thinking of a kiwi or a honeysuckle. Does anyone have a suggestion of what would be a good choice for this location?

    Thanks!

Kiwis will grow well in that environment, since they tolerate shade. I recommend the hardy kiwi, Actinidia arguta, over the commercial variety, A. deliciosa. The latter species is extremely vigorous and requires frequent pruning to keep it under control; however, in a container it may not be so bad.
